The origin and the creators of what it is now
Inaugurated on July 17, 1996, it is in a privileged location in the old quarter of Bilbao. It is designed by Emilio Puertas, the architect who led the reform of the Mercado de la Ribera. From there it’s been a number of famous names in the art world in general with their excellent contributions.
The decoration was carried out by Vicente and Fernando Roscubas, artists with numerous awards and over 30 years of exhibitions. The last, in the gallery Juan Manuel Lumbreras (Henao 3 Bilbao) with the title: “Lo mejor es que Ernesto siga como está”(Ernesto better keep the same way). They are authors of Miro mural style behind the bar.
Recently it was redecorated in 2011 for the opening of the bar, by Lydia Martínez. The lamps are the work of Dora Salazar, one of the most recognized sculptors of the state and the most renowned sculptor of Euskal Herria. They were designed with recycled elements in the line of Toni Cragg and Bill Woodrow, and also were honored with several international awards.
Piano, Jazz, violin … and even a “Geographic stew”
Since some time ago, we work with the recognized Rafa Aceves as permanent pianist. He is responsible for this very cozy atmosphere with jazz piano sessions from Sunday to Tuesday
. We also offer Sundays of Jazz at Kasko, with the great Bomboajazz, and recently with the Boslaris group, or what is the same, Reiko in the violin, Elena in the piano and both Gorka and Carmen with the scores.
Music and good food, at Kasko it is a pleasure.
We will not stop innovating and making your most pleasant moments in our small gastronomic museum.
Neither can you miss a careful exhibitions program, both permanent, as the incredible “Geographic stew” by Karen Amaya, as temporary.
